Cardigan for Little One

I’m still catching up with blogging knitting projects from 2020. This is the cardigan I made for LO, the same pattern I made in August for her preschool keyworker’s little girl. Knitting a 1-2 year and a 5-6 year size used up exactly ten balls of Patons Washed Haze DK from my stash.

As with the other one, I enjoyed knitting with this yarn, as it’s not at all harsh on your hands, unlike knitting with 100% cotton. It also washes and wears well. I still found the written lace pattern frustrating to follow, as I’d prefer a chart (yes, I know I could have drawn one but stuff just got in the way!), but this one became easier as I got more and more used to it.

The result is a little on the boxy side, and LO is long and thin, so I’m not sure how long it will fit her for, but she’ll definitely get at least a year’s use out of it, I should think. And as it’s a cotton mix, it should get some use on cooler days in the summer too. This one used up 718 metres of yarn, the remainder of it in my stash, so a good stash-busting project too!
