Last summer I helped out a friend with some babysitting and got a very unexpected surprise in return – a Loveknitting gift voucher. I hadn’t been expecting to buy any yarn for the rest of the year, so I’ve had a lovely time cogitating endlessly about what to buy with it!
I wanted something that would either help me make something in my Ravelry queue or help me use up stash. Going through my queue was fun. I matched up some of my existing stash with patterns I wanted to make. One of my friends, HibiscusFlower, had made a lovely jumper, Breathing Space, last year and I decided I’d like to make the same one, using some of the mini skeins already in my stash, so I needed a solid colour to go with them. I already had one skein of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in poppy seed (grey) in my stash, so bought another two skeins so I had the right amount.

And the red (cherry drop)? I looked at my half-used skeins of Signature 4ply in Ravelry and chose the solid colour that would coordinate with them so I could use some of those up too.
I love the names West Yorkshire Spinners give to their colourways! Have you tried any of their yarn? My first encounter was their Aire Valley Aran which a friend used to knit a baby blanket for LO, which is still very much going strong – it washes very well and is lovely and soft.
